Thin set on wood flooring? This will surely break up over time.
this is a perfect example of how to make a do-it-yourself video awesome. there are way to many very very bad videos out there but this one was very good.
I LIKE SEE YOU VÍDEO FROM BRAZIL !!THANKS !!
Lucky for me im dealing with solid concrete, no subfloor. Its a nice old brick and concrete house.
Thank you so much
Oh heck!Am v much of a learner DIY'er & now worried I am going to make a complete mess of the job.Don't suggest getting help. That's not an option. And y do the instructions with my product say start in the middle of the room?To me, beginning at the edge as this vid says, makes far more sense.I had no idea the planks would be so heavy!I can only take one pack at a time & that was a struggle.
all the talk about the baseboards and quarter round…I hope they are repainting the room that paint looks awful with that pretty flooring.
I love vinyl flooring and have done a few installs. This video still had great tips that I wish I had known before.
For floor vents, I used a circular saw to plunge cut the first line and switched to a jig saw for the rest
Take it off to reinstall later.
I have to raise my floor up inch to match another floor in my house on the main floor so I’m confused on the installation. Do I do concrete flooring/vapor barrier/plywood to raise floor/engineered hardwood or is it concrete/plywood to raise up the floor/vapor barrier/engineered hardwood?
Great job. Thanks for the information I'll be using these tips to lay down some flooring today.
I got a question: How bad an idea is this: hammer down the nails in the tacks, keep the foaming from the previous carpet, lay down a thin layer of ply wood through out, then do peel and stick vinyl floor??? Yes, no? confession….I may be on step 3 of this crazy idea. Going to the store tomorrow to see that the experts at home depot think…
Awesome Guys 👍🏼👏🏼
Roll the tac strip up in the carpet.
Why is there not underlay? Is underlay not really of a big deal?
Leave in the base boards-james
I’m not sure how dead on that it has to be level but I had two small dips by the walls so I use an extra layer of underlayment there.
First mistake is installing vinyl plank flooring. So cheap looking and sounding as you walk over it.
How do you transition this to a patio sliding door? These doors are usually made flush to the existing floor
Excellent video – thanks! I usually take the opportunity to upgrade the baseboards to something taller / nicer. This is especially helpful if you're going from carpet to plank flooring because otherwise you're going to have some painting to do if you put the original baseboards back on.
I Had to skip #6 lol
Mistake 1: Using vinyl plank for flooring.
I don't like quarter round and this video leaves a dilemma. If my vinyl flooring has a shorter profile than the carpet, I'll have a gap between it and the baseboard.
If I remove the baseboard and lower and cut it (if needed) to make it flush with the new floor, I could have a sizeable paint gap. So, what then? A thick bead of paint caulk? I'm sure as heck not going to repaint the whole room.
I used this same home flooring. From home depot. It is amazing 5 years later and it still looks like day 1 when it gets mopped. I even used it in my living room that is 20×24, no random gaps, no weird pop outs at all.
I haven't watched the video yet, but I'm pretty sure I made at least every single one of these mistakes
When you do undercuts at the door way how are you sealing the gap to water proof the flooring?
Mistake 11.
Most product on market needs flat surface with a 1/8 limit on 8 feet. Not to be flatten by 3 feed flimsy piece of wood, You need straigth edge tool.
For all you commenters who don’t understand the difference between quarter round and shoe. Quarter round is generally 3/4 x 3/4. It is 1/4 of a full circle. Shoe on the other hand, is 1/2 by 3/4. It is 1/4 of an ellipse. Shoe looks like it belongs whereas quarter round looks like the job was done by an amateur.
Base looks terrible with quarter round. This part is true. But it also equally looks unfinished without shoe. Biggest pet peeve’s is people who use quarter round instead of shoe.
