I remember my folks dropping me and my older brother & sister off at the movie theater to watch Rocky III in the Summer of 1982. I was 8 1/2 at the time. We saw ET a few weeks later and then The Toy a few months after that!

Is that one guy narrating all the trailers? Like the 80s had their own "In a world…" guy. Thanks Brad, good stuff. Way better than you tasting Jalapeno Pepsi, or KFC's donut chicken sandwich with fiery Cheetos on it.

I saw Shoot the Moon as a student with a Q&A with Alan Parker afterwards. Sadly he didn't answer questions about The Wall

https://youtu.be/DhVEvRrv9x0?t=6910 That's a salient point – that Tron holds up as what it was recreating was never meant to be 'realistic', just what it is, a video game. I think the effects here and the shields in Lynch's Dune of 1984 still look fantastic and iconic. Loving this series, 1982 was pretty full of heavy hitters.

Inchon is what you end up with when mom makes you play with your little sister. She brings her Barbi Dolls and demands there be romance while your GI Joes battle the forces of evil!

First Blood has what could be my favorite BTS showbiz story of all time. When David Morrell sold the film rights to the novel, his lawyer wanted to charge him an extra $500 to have a clause put into the contract allowing Morrell to share in any merchandising and sequel revenues. Morrell thought his lawyer was crazy. "What merchandising?" he said. "This is a book about a psychotic killer! Who's going to want to make toys and lunchboxes out of that? And what sequel? Everyone's dead at the end!" "Sit down, son," his lawyer said gently. "You don't understand Hollywood. They can do anything they want to with this book. Hell, they could turn it into a musical if they wanted." So Morrell thought it over, and reluctantly forked over the $500. He later said it was the best money he ever spent. That clause in his contract made him millions.
