There is certainly just some thing about a diesel pickup truck that would make grown guys regress into Tonka-loving small children. Even my Prius-driving environmentalist friends in Berkeley confess they secretly want a diesel pickup. The difficulty of course is that diesel pickups are high-priced (the most economical diesel Ram 2500 is $36,975 and it won’t have an computerized transmission, the most economical oil-burning F-250 is $38,250) and, for the the greater part of us, the high payload and towing capacities are overkill. Though affordable in a specific perception, the substantial diesel trucks aren’t “fuel-effective” possibly. Until now. Mark your calendars individuals, The 2014 Ram 1500 Eco Diesel is the half-ton truck in The us sporting a small diesel engine.
Despite the fact that new in 2010 and refreshed for the 2013, the 1500 is undeniably a Ram. That is mainly because Chrysler prefers evolutionary fairly than innovative styling when it comes to their quantity truck. That is not a lousy issue, considering that the 1994 model cues that have lived on were attractive again then, and continue to attractive now. The massive-rig entrance end continue to captures my consideration, but in spite of my family’s Ram addiction, I obtain the 2014 Silverado’s nose to be the better looker. As with most redesigns, the entrance end got even larger, brasher and has more chrome than at any time ahead of.
In 2007 GM acquired 50% of the Italian engine maker VM Motori. The logic was that GM necessary a smooth Euro compliant diesel engine for the Cadillac CTS (and other models) in buy to contend with the Germans. Sadly, GM declared individual bankruptcy in between the engine remaining developed and the engine essentially remaining used so it sat on a shelf. In 2011 Fiat purchased the other half of VM Motori and identified the engine collecting dust. Fiat experienced some swift tweaks performed to the engine to make it more ideal for their use and the EcoDiesel V6 was born. Though there was a lot communicate about GM obtaining their palms on this same engine for Silverado responsibility, Fiat not long ago snapped up the other half of VM Motri building this a Fiat/Chrysler engine in each individual way that issues.
The high revving single turbo aluminum-block V6 engine generates 240 horsepower and a stout 420 lb-ft of torque. If these figures seem outstanding, look at this. The first 5.9L Cummins engine Chrysler used in the 2500 and 3500 series RAM trucks made ninety four less ponies and twenty less twists. In the most important statement of development I have found in a while, that Cummins also sent its electrical power by means of five less gears.

Like the rest of the Ram 1500 lineup (except for a single design with a 5.7L HEMI), all one/two ton Rams now use ZF’s eight-pace computerized transmission. If you happen to be apprehensive it really is just a passenger automobile transmission which is not up to the endeavor, ZF’s eight-pace transmissions are also identified driving the insane twin-turbo V12s that the Germans adore so a lot.

No no! Don't remove the foam. It's not Just for sound dampening. The foam keep the engine hot so the EGR can properly dispose the soot. If the egr has no foam over it the egr will be to cool and you WILL have a clogged Egr. FACT. Im a diesel technician and I have personally worked on this particular engine of breaking it down and building it back up.

at 2;20 approx.you said"the only reason to get a diesel its for how it sound for me"?!who are you man?diesel always been cheaper on gas, specially back in the days, also stronger trucks, and for the record the only complaint about the diesel was ,,yes! its fucking loud noisy sound,I'd rather hear a V8 on gas sound instead a diesel truckhow many guys back in the late 80's to mid-90's have used oil to fill up their diesel cars instead of diesel gas, because it works same for even 40% cheaper, lol

Ford has now switched to a new aluminum alloy frame. Good thing ? I doubt it. Repair could become a huge expense which in the future undoubtedly will cause a rise in insurance rates. Dirt bikes did the same thing a number of years ago. Repairing a crack frame on them is now a much bigger pain and expense than in the past. If it were better then why has KTM continued with the steel frame……I'll keep my Chevy. I've owned 4 Toyotas, 3 Fords, and one Chevy. The Chevy is lightyears better than the others.

Im just bummed wih the highly over price on this new trucks, even thou the economy seems to slightly get better I think theyre still pretty spensive, back in 2001 when I got a brand new 2001 Silverado I paid 28,000 with 0 miles and it was the top of the line, and still even in 2005 when I got a brand new toyota tacoma was 32,000 again top of the line and extras, now days thats what you are paying for a 5-7 year old model, Theyre probably worth every penny but theyre still over priced, Im not gonna lie my silverado is at 265k miles and everything is still original, and I mean everything, except wheels and tires, but is been doing good, the tacoma is at 127k but I would say is bearly breaking in
But almost 60 grant for a brand new truck, idk
Im happy with what I have but Im still thinking of getting this specific model

Go drive that Dodge down a 6% grade for about ten miles with 7k to 8k or more.. And I promise it will be a 'white knuckle' – 'butt puckering' event. It's relatively easy pull 7k to 8k with the most modern trucks.. Slowing it all down is, however, altogether different.. And you will run out of Payload on the Dodge very quick when you apply 800lbs. of tongue weight to the back.. The Chevy may not be the fastest or the prettiest but it's the only truck I test drove (5.3 w/ Max Trailering PKG) that required ZERO application of the trucks brake system to keep it under 55mph (it also had the highest tow rating, FWIW…).. The engine braking on the Chevy is amazing.. If you're not going to tow often and or not that much in weight, buy the one that most appeals to ya.. I Just don't care for the exterior look of the Dodge.. Love the interior.. Great Review – Thnx..

It is important to note that the FMC (Federal Motor Carrier) rules only apply to commercial vehicles used in interstate commerce. That means a private person using his truck to tow for personal use has no limit to trailer weight, and will never need a Commercial Driver's License. That's how grandpa with a 42ft RV and a 12ft auto transport will never need more than a Class D Operator's license. Even if he exceeds 26,000 GVWR or tows more than 10,000lbs.
