Purely based on this review I ordered one today. No demo in store but the salesperson said “its f***ing awesome” and I was sold! Will see if I need a sub but great news a SDS 1000 looks the goods if I do, probably won’t though. Sennheiser if you’re reading this, helping Andrew with a product to review if you did earned my sale plus probably thousands of others. Thank you Andrew you have a fantastic channel and amazing way of presenting what we cannot hear but then want!

Sennheiser updated the Ambeo firmware to 1.0.237 and also overhauled the Smart Control App. It now supports not only Chromecast, but also Tidal Connect, Spotify Connect and Apple AirPlay 2. They really care about their products.

Hey Andrew! I have been a fan of your channel since 2020 and love listening to your opinion and professional perspective. You mentioned listening to a Formation soundbar from B&W; how does the Ambeo compare? And with it being 2022, what other options would you consider in the $2500 category?

I currently have LG 7.1.4 SN11RG. Can someone please let me know how that compares this $2,500 sound-bar? I'm considering making the switch but honestly don't know which is better. 😞

My answer to your last question in this review: "what would it take for you to consider a soundbar?" is Room Size. I've got a 11.5 feet by 9.5 feet room, so a full size 5.1 surround system is a bit hard to setup in this room when there's also a slant back corner on the left. Also the door is setup on the right back corner of the room, so satellite speakers placement are near impossible. I'm very tempted to buy the Ambeo but heard a second version with "softer" price would come out soon around this year or the next, so I'll hold off till your next review on the second Ambeo version.

    Just my two pennies worth

I had the Ambeo for a few weeks and yes it’s an amazing Soundbar and it knocks the socks off of Sonos for example BUT it has reliability issues which scared me off a little so I opted for an AV RECEIVER instead and I’m glad I did – also the 3D Audio effect I never really felt it and you really start to miss surround speakers that you get with an AVR

I went for the Anthem MRX540 , SVS PB1000 sub and Gallo A’diva speakers and I’m happy

Hi, thank you for your review.
    I´m convinced to get one.
One question, is it possible to use it without the vibration support feets?
I want to use it with the Samsung LSP9T beamer and I have 13cm space when displaying 100".
With the feet the Ambeo has 13,5 cm hight, without 12,5 cm.
Or can i use custom made vibration feed?
    Thanks for your adice

I sooooo want this to replace my Samsung H800T, which is 3.1 but I’m not happy with it. Height sounds are almost non-existent. My television is in the corner, and I was wondering how this bar would cope with this?

Andrew, I see the Ambeo has went on sale for $2,000.00. I am either looking at purchasing that or the Sonos Arc and Gen 3 sub. Which of these two options do you prefer and why? This setup will be going in our master bedroom. Thanks for all the great content you continue to put out!

My only disagreement is, for me, subs are absolutely necessary. Not for the rumbling, but for the smoothing out of all the sound. I make no apologies. I've been a Ken Kreisel fan, since the day he invented the volkswoofer sub. He was, and always be… Music first. I do wish that sennheiser would have allowed us the option of rear speakers. That's why I'm still looking and waiting. I must be able to use my Kreisel custom subs, not only with my a/v system, but our eventual atmos soundbar system.

I have a question regarding the Ambeo. If I decide to use a dedicated sub woofer alongside the Ambeo, should I disable the built in sub woofer inside the Ambeo or leave it on?

I would highly appreciate any feedback regarding this please.

What would it take? I dunno, I have over 7000.00 in my home theater system, not much in the audio-visual world. I am considering this for our second living room area that mostly sees normal TV and video game play.

My wife and I are building a new house. Open concept… As in the living room, dining room and kitchen are all the same large (20'x40') mostly rectangular room (there is a small foyer off the middle on one side mostly lined up with the dining space) with elevated (12') and beamed ceilings. I'm a discrete speaker guy (bookshelves and subs), but even I'm struggling with placement in this monster. Not to mention that, after years of marriage, the wife is finally fed up with the "bachelor look" of speakers everywhere. Looking at soundbar solutions (which I know and your reviews confirm have gotten a lot better these days), but I just don't feel like they will be able to fill the cavernous space and will lose any simulated surround effects to the dining/kitchen areas at the rear. In this video, you kept mentioning that you are also open concept, though L-shaped with your living room in the corner. I know you lost some of the surround effect due to shape, but did you feel the Ambeo was able to fill the space? Are there any other soundbar solutions out there worth looking at? I've seen many of your reviews (love them), but the Ambeo review was I think the first time I've heard you mention your room shape.

I owned, and operated a brick and mortar audio/video store for 27 years. You said it… perfectly! You will never get every person to agree. Not only is that in electronics, but life as well. I had a very simple saying to any and all who came in to purchase products. When, at the end of your setup, you plop your butt in the viewing area. After turning everything on, if a giant smile comes across your face, you've chosen correctly! End of story! What a pleasure it was listening and watching your video. Thank you so much. 😁.

I just bought this soundbar today. I have hooked it up with my LG CX using eARC but I'm not sure if I'm getting the best out of it. I have calibrated the soundbar using the microphone and tried playing 6 Underground on Netlfix using LG's Netflix app. I got 'Dobly Vision' pop-up on TV screen but no 'Dolby Atmos', which makes sense as it is passing through Dolby Atmos to the soundbar to process it. Sounbar shows HDMI TV + ATMOS on its small LED screen when playing the movie. I have also tried few Disney+ shows that support Atmos. I'm not sure if need to change any setting in Sennheiser app to enhance the experience. App shows 'Dobly Atmos' code with channels set to 'objects'. In Dobly DRC settings I have turned it Off and Dolby Virtualizer is off as well. Should 'Dolby Virtualizer' be on?

Can you please make a detailed video on setting you use for Dobly Atmos content? Sennheiser is not so great with providing that information through the app. Can you please help me out?

Bought the Ambeo this week and I'm totally amazed. Took the time for calibration and discovered that a placement of just 20cm behind the main listening position gives a much better bubble. Atmos demo's such as Amaze are so impressive for just ONE speaker. 100% worth the money (got a nice 10% discount), couldnt be happier, and so is the wife

I decided against the Ambeo based on the negative reviews for it’s Bluetooth connection repeatedly dropping connection to the rest of the system. I decided to give the Sonos system a try. I bought the ARC sound bar and set it up. It sounded great but was VERY lacking in bass. The next day I got the Gen 3 Sonos sub – WOW. That thing is looks small and I was NOT expecting it to put out a lot of bass and I was blown away. It THUMPS and it goes LOW. I had a 12” powered Klipsch sub and the Sonos sub is AS good or BETTER. Plus it was easy setup and wireless. The next day I picked put he SL one pair of speakers for my rear surrounds. All total I spent about $2000 on everything. Compared to the Ambeo that costs $2500 with NO sub…. This Sonos system is hands down far better. I am not an audiophile but I appreciate good sound – I wanted something that would do HT and music – the Sonos system does it all. The phone app is great. I am not a paid spokesperson – just a regular guy who wanted to get a lot of bang for the buck.

Hello Andrew, I am a viewer from Taiwan and I've been following your videos for a couple months now. They're really enjoyable in terms of the viewing experience as well as the knowledge perspective. Thank you for making great videos.

I have been thinking of getting an Ambeo for my new house some time now. And I actually went to one of the retail store today to give it a go. To my surprise it performs awfully bad in the sound stage department. The metal striking sound from the Roll Tide sits in the dead center and the notes from My number hot chip remix never really move a single inch(Yes I had your demo list and are loving them) , not to mention the bass from hella good had no width whatsoever.
I wasn't prepared for this kind of flatness even though I knew the setting could be more towards the Movie side.
I was already enjoying these tracks on my MBP and to be honest they performs much better on a 15' laptop than a 2.5k soundbar in terms of the spacial presentation.

My question is that should I go back there and have them run the machine in a specific preset(Cause I was told by the guy who showed me to the showroom that I will have to wait for the engineer to change the preset and come back another date. He wasn't really sure which preset we were in and didn't seem to care.) or this is the close-to-actual two channel playback experience I can expect even after the tweaking?

    Thanks in advance!
