► KEF LS50 WIRELESS REVIEW
For our second KEF review, we bring you a KEF bluetooth speaker review! The LS50 Wireless II speakers are powered, bluetooth enabled and wireless. The question is are they as good or better than the LS50 Metas? This ultimately may depend on how you feel about a neutral sounding speaker. The good thing is that if you are looking for an easy hifi & home theater speaker, the LS50 2 is as reliable as they come.

What speakers stands are being used in the video, please?!
How the hell is this voice sounding so freaking sexy?
I surely wanna know what mic they use and what EQ settings and other post-fx come into play here. 🙂
How would these compare to the Elac Navis ARB 51 and they can be had for 700 less with a free pair of stands .
Can I ask you a question? Hope so😜. Seen you beolab 28 and you mentioned Nef ls50. If you should choose one of those, what would you choose?
Ps very good presentation.
Really the Wireless 2 Metas are indeed the platform and signature.. So yes the passive Metas will sound different, of course, based on amplification
@Andrew Robinson thanks for the review !!!
Bought my KEF LS50 II and simply LOVE EM! I am using. them for desktop nearfield and they sound really good. And I do agree these will be even more amazing for larger dispersion or distance too. setup is little cumbersome in beginning for the wireless setup, but after that they JUST SO GOOD at highs and miss. Not punch , but then again not looking at all for the heavy bass.
I will probably go for BW 804 or 803 in time for my overall setup once I move into my house…for now these are so good for my work desk so I can listen to music while working at times.
Genelec 8040 but these are great
great guys thank you but for the audio we cannot compare kef with bang and olufsen come on, maybe just for the design
I’m very disappointed with the audio quality of this crap KEF LS50 wireless II
Used to have KEF Ref 107 (known as Daleks) way long ago. Passive but amazing. Built like a tank, weigh a ton. See pictures just for fun last sold 20yrs +
Meta's all the way.
Hi Andrew,
I am torn between these and Metas + Bluesound Powernode. There is about 600$ difference in Metas + Powernode favor. What would you recommend?
Is it worth it to get b& w formation duos over these. Or is there something else to consider. Any idea are appreciated thanks
hey andrew. i wonder how this sound compare to 2 devialet phantom ii 95db. they’re almost the same price
I have the KEF ls50 wireless 1, and I found that the sound can be greatly changed through the KEF control app. Have you guys tried that?
Still: I agree that the soundstage is not that large, they have a very clear sweet spot.
How does this compare with Sony Ht A9 ? This will help me makeup my mind , I watch movies and listen to music
Comments make no sense to me! Duo’s are almost twice the price of the wireless
Would like to see a smaller or a miniature version of these, actually not tiny, tiny, if somebody can produce them, it would be nice, big speakers are not going for me
Anyone knows about Magnat monitor reference 2a powered speakers.
Are they good for movies for a 2.0 set up in a small living room?
Or they sound very 'flat' so better for studio monitors?
I have just tried meta vs warfedale Linton. Linton is cheaper and has stand included. Sound from Linton is science fiction compared to meta
Please! Review the new lsx! Would love to hear what you think, and specially Christy!
KEF LS50 Wireless II has a good feature set and connectivity but they sound awful. I've had them for almost a year and they have an extremely annoying peak in the treble which makes them sound metallic, artificial, unnatural. Their mids are congested, distorted, and non-transparent. The bass is fair for their size but they still need a subwoofer. They have a decent form factor (size), are self-powered, and have good connectivity but other than that they are painful to listen to for most types of program material having complex wide-ranging frequencies and dynamics. I have never had good experiences with metal tweeters. These like most audio gear on YouTube are overhyped and the reviewers must have worse hearing than me. Same with magazine reviews. Reviewers of high-end gear should have certified hearing tests otherwise their recommendations are meaningless.
Love your reviews!
Question for you, is the Formation Duo still significantly better than the LS50s if you hook up a subwoofer to the KEFs?
What are those speaker stands?
I just bought sl50 w2, and.. a new tablet just to be able to run them, went with the Galaxy tab A7 lite, since my wallet is rather empty, looking at you kef minus 3000 euros.
havent gotten the speakers yet but…
when installing the app via store, there is this little tiny message right under it claiming " this app may not work on you device" ..
well thats ashame, really, so were is the gud o'l system requirements for it? so i i can buy an tablet that will run silky smooth with 0 bugs an crashes. ???
what R others experience with this? does the app run smooth regardless of the message? on my brothers old potato, there is no message.
pls share all your tablets you use that work wonders with the KEF Connect app . skip the expensive apple ones. i went for speakers, not apples.
Am not sure if ppl will scoff … but would love to know your opinion on the sound quality of the original HomePod used as home theater (2 paired)
What’s the difference between arc and earc in a 2 channel system?
Is there a noticeable quality difference between wireless and wired interspeaker connection?
Wireless: 96kHz/24bit PCM
Wired: 192kHz/24bit PCM
Have you tried the DYNAUDIO FOCUS 20 XD
First time I saw this video I didn't finisehd it.
I have already saw it until the end and there are two topic I want to comment about.
The first one is that I thank to Christie she mentioned the Tannoy Gold because I am thinking in a minimalistic gear with powered speakers and, of course the Kef LS50 W2 are a possibility in the all in one side, but a simple powered speakers togeher with the computer and a DAC are oher possiblity (Tannoy Gold 7 or 8 and Adam AX77 are the ones I have in my mind)
And to know how is the Tannoy Gold sound compared with the Kef LS50 is something very important to me. In the same way I would like o know how the Tanmoy Gold 8 are compared with the Adam AX77
The other question is that when Christie mentioned Kef tower speakers, the first I thought is just the Blade that is something I would like to listened to or at least to get a review from you.
Other speakers that I am wondering about them are the Tannoy revolution XT8F together with the Eaton. The Revolution are affordable ones and it could be a good choice.
Definitivelly I would like more Kef and Tannoy reviews, because they are 2 very interesting brands.
Passionate and thoughtful review, thank you. Apologies however, the dialogue around comparisons veered towards toxic.
If they move you and bring you closer they have value. This ain't about style
Great review, just the thing I was researching. I’ve decided to resume my audiophile hobby after a gap of 15 years due to family reasons, I don’t fancy going back in time to return to tube amps etc etc and and am rather keen to explore new avenues & the latest advancements such as these wireless ii powered speakers system. It seems to tick most of the boxes for me and besides I never enjoyed all that spaghetti hanging out the back. So thanks for the tips.
Yes, the same thing about lack of openness around the music happens with the Klipsch active tower speakers when compared to their reference 8000s
Would you review a devialet phantom 2 as a comparison?
Nice review, what floor stand do you use? Looks good.
You didn't specify what issues exactly you had with Oberons. Was it connection between hub and speakers or hub to router?
How about the buchardt a500? A review please?!
Hi, can you share to us what amplifier did you use with the metas to get the sound she is talking about? im looking forward yo buy an audio set and i have the question if powered or passive w/amp, thx!!
Would you go for the LS50 Wireless over the ii for studio production? I mean on paper the lather destroys the first but I already own some Wireless hooked with an Kube10b (which I will replace in time) & it sounds pretty damn clean & vibrant in my relatively large room (20×12’) . And I'm not one of those neutral guys, so I don't expect my system to be to totally flat. Not to much colours nether…thats why I love those speakers but not the 10b lol. #andrew
You sound like Kevin Spacey, in a good way 👍🏼
If I already have a Powernode 2i and RSL Speedwoofer 10s, would you recommend getting the LS50 Meta or selling the Powernode and buying the LS50 Wireless II? Subjectivity will of course affect this decision, but just wanted to get your thoughts.
