Trying to decide between the 810 and the 1000. Both are very speedy, just wondering if the features of the 1000 are worth the extra dough

Creating routes and sending them to the Garmin 810 is nice…when using Garmin Connect. Allow Strava and your rides show up there too.

Does this come with a sensor so you can see your cadence? He didn't mention it and I can't seem to get this answered on amazon where I want to buy it.

Mm. My I phone is at the end of its contact, might get payg sim, remove all the apps except strava and stick it on the handlebars and have my new phone in my pocket. Heard so many stories of failed connections etc with garmin.

Is the voice of the 810 loud enough to hear the directions or do you need to wear a headset ?

"so if you are on a mountain pass and a big weather front is coming in, it will ping it straight to your Garmin, so if you are up a mountain you can head down" do you really think there will be a mobile phone signal somewhere where a weather front would be of concern??? probably not!!!!

This is a nice review, I watched the one for the 510 as well. I'm pretty stuck if I want to upgrade to the 510 or the 810, or just stick with my 500. The navigation and ease of upload/social networking on the 810 sounds quite nice, but the 510 sounds nice as well and is cheaper…

    But man…. decisions decisions.

The BT upload to Garmin connect via your mobile is way cool. However Garmin needs to support uploading to third party sites (Strava, Training Peaks etc…) not likely going to happen though. Come on Wahoo Fitness App!

Look at it this way, it has a few new nice features that could be appealing to those that have lesser models.

I have an 800 and its awesome. Works well in the rain, unlike a cell phone, and has never crashed on my while tracking a ride, unlike a cell phone. The thickness doesn't matter because it isn't going in a pocket. Also it can has a battery life of 12-16 hours of constant use which is way better than any cell phone.

0:17 says much more simpler than its was on the old 810, you can swipe the screen on the 800, to use this at its full potential you need £300 for a smart phone(android or apple blackberry is no good) and over £480 for the garmin(with cadence and hr sensor)= over £700!
