One major problem with scrappers is that they don't know enough about the electronics they tear down. Some of them are worth far more than the value of the scrap metal inside. You take massive losses in the process.

So question… by the time it's all said and done, about, and I know it's an estimate, but what would you expect your dollars per hour to be for going though all this to collect the gold and other metals from this scrap?

I have an opportunity to take a couple pallets of old computers and servers and scrap them out, what I'm wondering is, is it really worth my time to mess with it? Raw weight, I'm guessing there's about 750 to 1000 pounds of raw computers.

Most of them are desktop computers, a few servers, and a dozen or so laptops. What do you think as a rough guess that is worth in total, steel, copper, aluminum, gold etc?

Question – have you ever tried or considered roasting the circuit boards in a pot (covered but not sealed) over enough heat that the fiberglass turns to carbon ?

I feel like the time you invest in obtaining used/broken PC's, taking them apart, identifying and separating materials, using chemicals to separate metals and clean them, and then finally melt it down is such a big time sink that you'd be better off working at Mcdonalds.

you should open the hard drive case and remove the disc platters before scrapping the case. the platters are made of palladium or palladium alloy. palladium is more valuable than silver currently

PSU has a good chunk of copper and aluminum ( counting on it's quality ) So I'd rip the copper out atleast that can bring in a good chunk of cash by itself
