This didn't help me, my laptop has a touch screen glass in the front of the screen which needs to be replaced (Acer Aspire V5-571) . It is glued to the screen all round the 4 edges. BUT a touch screen digitizer is available as spare part. Can't find a video clip to do such a replacement….

I've got one of these but the CPU or Mobo is fried. I've separated the monitor and am planning on using it as a Cintiq, but it's going to require a lot of wire work. Has anybody successfully done this?

Hi question, I noticed at the beginning of your video you removed the inverter, I'm pretty sure my inverter board needs to be replaced (screen doesn't show up anymore but it shows up on an external) so all I have to do is remove that part on the right and replace it with a new inverter?

My glass and touch/stylus sensitivity seem to work. If I salvage the glass screen protector from my old laptop, can I simply use it on the new screen?
I basically just need to replaced the LCD light.

As you can see from the tutorial the glass and LCD can be replaced independently from each other. If your screen is flickering randomly you should try replacing the inverter before replacing the LCD.

The glass on my laptop is broken do I need to replace the whole lcd screen or can i just replace the glass?
Also occasionally my lcd screen shuts down at random after flickering and sometimes it works perfectly fine, I'm not sure of the root cause of this problem. Is there anything that you can recommend?

Try a different screw driver. Apply enough down force to prevent stripping. Sometimes a little bit of WD40 or machine oil under the screw cap can help. If the screw is stripped you will have to drill it out.

how do you know if you need a replacement screen with a new digitizer? Is it possible to replace just the more fragile glass screen and how do you know if that is the only portion of the screen that is broken?

Excellent video, I cracked my screen yesterday. It still works, the touch/stylus all work just fine. So do i just need a new protective film, or also need a new screen? I know i can preserve the digitizer. Also, what type of screwdrivers do i need? I have a T6 and T8…THANK YOU!!

@MaryOfClaire The back light is part of the LCD panel, so changing the panel will fix the back light. Except in cases where the inverter might be at fault (inverter supplies power to the back light). There's no easy way to test for inverter troubles, except for replacement. Inverters can be bought from eBay or notebooksolutions ca , or look around on the web for other sources. Inverters are typically much cheaper than LCD panels.

This might sound kind of stupid, but just to make sure before I start buying parts… If my LCD light has "gone bad", will a new screen fix that? In other words, is the light in the screen, or do I have to order the light by itself?
My screen (touch features and all) still technically work, but nothing will display (unless plugged into an external monitor.). I would REALLY like to repair this myself, since HP charges a LOT for non-guaranteed repairs!! Thanks!

@shaydkh031 I wouldn't recommend that. You could connect it to USB, and get it to work. But I'm not sure if the other components won't be affected. The original glass plugs into the Wacom controller. You can still buy them on eBay. Search TX2000 glass.

@colbushi That seems like a symptom of a failing CCFL back light, so changing the screen should resolve that issue.
