Living Room Home Theater Tour

Living Room Home Theater Tour

It’s been almost ten years since I made the video How to Set Up and Treat a Listening Room, which includes a tour of my living room home theater. All of the information in that video is still valid, but a lot has changed in my room since then, so it’s time for an update. This newer video shows how you can enjoy state of the art sound (and video) without having to spend a huge amount of money.

If you have technical questions about this video that require a reply, please do not post them here as comments. YouTube is not a good venue for a technical exchange. Please post your questions in whatever audio forum you know me from, or post in my Audio Expert forum:

Love your simplicity and appraisal that you don’t prefer fancy universal remotes, 16 channels etc. well done πŸ‘πŸΌ

you have surround speakers near ground level firing into the back of a sofa. and thats just one of the many things wrong with this room. WAY WAY WAY too much stuff you dont need. talk about a cluttered room

Fantastic treatment of the room but why go to all that effort when your speakers are sat on a cardboard box and a little table?!?

Add a second sub, and no bass trap needed. Major response deviations there. Love the simplicity of the system though.

Where can i buy those cardboard boxes you have under the L&R channels? I use pizza boxes at the moment but I need audiophile grade cardboard, those plastic step stools are much better than my milk crates.

Hi, I'm agree with u, doesn't need a expensive audio system or buy to many speakers, amps, etc. I Bought an Onkyo receiver; the center channel, surround speaker and sub woofer from Yamaha; and my front speaker are Aiwa of an old mini componentes that doesn't work anymore… I send about $450 dollars.
It's not big deal, but I like very very mucho how it sound. Well thats all I have to Say, Hope u understand my English and congratulations…

Whats with all the junk hanging on your walls and ceiling? Real audiophiles use harmonic resonator crystals and specially tuned room boundary pucks for acoustic treatments lol

Ethan, I'm currently dealing with some issues because I have a large leather sectional, wanted to ask if RealTraps still sells those seat covers perhaps if requested? Or if not what kind of material exactly do you recommend and how thick should it be to get the absolute best possible absorption? My sectional also reclines so I was thinking about covering the entire thing, is that a good idea?

thanks!!! you've been a huge help to me.
