    I have a qnap ts212 with 1td red drive and the same wd live tv and a buffalo ddwrt router.thats about $500 and I can't find a fault yet.nas is only two bays but it's a beast with multipy hd streams and bt running.

    probably, but there is really no need to because the storage is limited by the speed of your network, which is slower than the Hard Drive itself.

    yes you can build a nas using ssds but why would you?
    well if you are a millionaire probably its an option, but consider having 4-6 TB of usable storage in raid 10, that's kind of pricy…
