had one of these calls last year till they realised I was on Mac and disappeared when I wouldn't go to PC.  Then this week – 2 more. First said he was from Microsoft re Windows.  Just now had one  posing as BT internet team so said fine,  give me your reference code and I'll just give BT a call to verify. Strangely he then hung up.. but great ideas here as to how to let them waste their time a lot ….

Today I received the 4th call from this scam and I made the guy so irritated that he couldn't keep up with the barage of questions I asked him. I started with: How did you get my phone number? What exactly is the problem my computer is having? Isn't it more common for a customer to call in when a problem occurs rather than be called and warned about a problem that doesn't exist? What Windows program do I have? He stuttered, got flustered, then I lowered the boom and told him I was on to him! LOL

I have also kept them going for 10.. 15 minutes before revealing that I was on a Mac. When he insisted that I must go to my Windows computer and NOT the Mac, I complied. Then I kept him on the line for several minutes more before telling him that my computers are not connected to the internet. 😉

The number showed on my caller display as "International",no number sadly, I would love to put these people out of business.I had recorded other calls in the past pretending I had Windows Me,the caller had never heard of it.I have also kept them on the line for 20 minutes before telling them I was using a Mac. My daughter has even sang them songs.

I have customers caught by these scams,A bill of £250 duplicated when they said that the credit card was declined and to use another card.Total £500.

Do you have the scammer's phone number? I've seen several posts made at Callercenter and it's alarming to see how many phone numbers these scammers are using to call people. They must be making a lot of money from stealing to afford such a large phone bill.
