In this video (2 part series) I interview a sewing machine repairman that was on the job for 13 years. He gives us great insight on common issues he saw people bring into the shop and how we can avoid them. I will be releasing the second part toward the end of the month after a few Halloween videos I want to release.

I u-tubed it and fixed it. now I can't get my foot controller to work, every time I push down it gives me a error code E1. I have re threaded and done everything I can but still not working. Please, I have an Brother SE400 when I lift the pressure foot the tension disk closes and when I lower the pressure foot the tension disk is open it should be the opposite I am thinking maybe it is a problem with the spring. can you help? anyone help, please.
Hello. I can’t get my needle plate to go back on properly.
Why does the thread slip out from behind the #6 in the threading sequence? How can I fix it? I know that once I took it to the repair shop and they said that there is a little thing that hangs down that actually holds that thread in there. But I lifted that up and it didn't do any good. Is there a special way or place that that little almost floppy piece of metal is supposed to be and how do I put it there. I certainly hope someone can understand my question.
I have a brother se400 and I'm getting a message saying F05 speed sensor. How can this be fixed?
To the point – thanks for bringing in Brian…helpful & just to say "music" in the back maybe lower sound or not at all. One other thing is to allow Brian to finish his full thought/words before you jump in cuz he starts & doesn't get to fully finish, just saying he's the repairman and we so want to take advantage of his knowledge/wisdom. starting pt 2. now
😙 FINALLY A VID THAT SPEAKS ABOUT THE BOBBIN ISSUE!!! A couple of hours ago before I started cleaning the inside of the singer Merritt 4530 machine I did adjust the bobbin tension as I'm use to seeing the bobbin tension on the bobbin case itself on the Viking. The issue I've had which is preventing me from sewing more than 1 inch without the bobbin thread breaking is in addition to the bobbin thread breaking every 10 stitches the other issue is that there is a TON of thread at the bottom side of the fabric and I've had to start over tens of thousands of hours trying to figure out what the issue is. I thought I should just go back to the Viking but I don't remember what the issue was with that one I thought since this is a brand new machine not being used I shouldn't have any issues that could be further from the truth. But there was a ton a ton a ton of stuff on the inside of the machine stuff not from my fabric because most of what I'm sewing is spandex and that could be one of the other problem is that I am using the wrong type of presser foot or something which is not made for spandex fabric. I just went onto a website and ordered a new bobbin case (& hopefully the appropriate Bobbons) because it does look like someone jammed a few needles into this one and mostly because you can't even get the fabric out from under the presser foot. So the last resort is replacing the bobbin case if having adjusted the bobbin tension doesn't work.
burley sew, i really respect you and your channel. bryan, lawd help me, you are sexy!
So very helpful, I am old school, using a new Singer Quantum 9960, and it was just blowing me away, thank you for spelling out what's going on, perhaps I will get to finish my projects after all.

Do you have any videos on how to change a motor drive belt? I have a Singer 1022 and can't find instructions for changing the belt.
Skipping right side stitch on a zigzag stitch, so when i am running a zigzag stitch when the needle goes through the fabric and comes back up it pulls the stitch back with it ?
Very helpful video! Thank you thank you!
if the bobbin thread is nesting yup get a new bobbin case it only takes aneedle scratch to ruin that case and yes i am speaking from experience on brother 425

Heres something you probably have not heard of! My Pfaff 2056 pretension guide popped off on my machine! Am having trouble finding a replacement! Do have any idea that I might use in order to use my machine?
question? I have an older singer and this problem with the globe of thread under my fabric just started to happen out of the blue and my take up arm has been clanking when it goes up, I've rethreaded the darn thing over and over, I'll try tips However does this sound like a mechanical issue more than a manual mistake? I'm frustrated, is your friend single, if I marry a sewing machine repair man I'll be forever happy lol😉
A pipe cleaner is good to use to clean the tension lines on a machine like the one you have there.
Hello,
I have a Janome Combi 10 it won't spin the thread on the bobbin, Help
The background music is so annoying, but the video is very informative, thanks!
I have a brother self threading sewing machine and for some reason after threading the thread in the box I put it in the sewing mach to push it down to thread the mach and something is stopping it from going down in its spot. I check to see if it looks like something in there is broke or in the way, nothing. Try inserting it again after rethreading it, still won't push down. Third try it finally goes down. Next time same problem can't push it down in machine this time I got frustrated after trying numerous times and gave up. Any ideas????
Just discovered your videos and will be subscribing! The troubleshooting was very helpful! I got some answers to some of my issues.
NO!!!!! Never use compressed air in your machine to blow out lint. EEEKS!!!! your repairman friend should have told you this, compressed air has moisture and puts moisture into areas of your machine that moisture shouldn't be, also it will blow the dust/lint further into your machine causing more problems.
I have a Brother PE 750D embroidery machine forgot to tell you that
My fabric keeps getting stuck in the bobbin feed hole. which then tears the fabric I'm sewing how can I trouble shoot this problem?
Also, thank you – the leaf springs pointer you gave was key for my problem. A common pin used, just like you said, remedied the problem this time.
I have a Brother SE 2700 Disney that occasionally gives me problems. Through trial and error ( but not sure WHAT I did ) could get it going again. Now I know after watching you just what I didn't do right, hopefully this will be read and help others. When you change everything, the thread, needle and bobbin, change everything. I thought if I changed one thing at a time I could find out through process of elimination what the problem was – but no – you have to change everything. Thanks guys! Also, thanks for moving right along. Some of these videos take so long they put me to sleep. You guys rock!
Thanks, this video really helped me understand thread tension.
How gay are you?
Thank you so much for sharing that much information, it helps a lot
I bought a sewing machine singer brilliance 6080 in Johannesburg .But have been unable to use it as the LCD display only brings up the numbers. how do I sought this out as I am unable to sew.help me to start utilizing my machine. there is no singer in Zambia and that makes me to be stuck.
Genius, I was about to toss the machine (not quite) and had stopped using it for about a year. Watched the video and found a hidden area with a bunch of thread gathering and once that was removed, machine is amazing again. Thank you!!!!
thanks! answered 4 of my questions. 🙂 lo!
I have a Kenmore Elite Ergo3 Embroidery/Sewing machine and it is threaded correctly and free of lint in machine but to sew I need to put my tension up to 9. Some times the thread still loops on the underside of my fabric when sewing? Any idea what my problem could be?
How do you fix a timing hook. I have a Brother ULT 2001. When the needle of the machine goes down the hook does not pick up the thread to be able to sew.
I have an odd issue with my machine. When I sew forward, the stitching comes out beautiful, but when it's time to reverse, the thread becomes loose and loop holes appear. Why?
I bought a Brother HC 1850 several months ago and was working on a quilt when my feed dogs broke. They will not move, I opened up the machine and found a tiny nut loose but could not find where the nut went on the machine. the lever moves back and forth but the feed dogs stay down. Also my reverse stitch did not work. I put the machine back together and am at a loss as to how to fix it. The repair shop is over 50 miles away.
Best how to/informational videos yet! Thank you!
if your sewing machine is stuck in reverse I have a singer confidence stylist 7467
